Tom Barford Group

Featuring an outstanding range of talented, London based musicians this exciting group regularly perform Tom's most recent set of emotive and imaginative compositions. Tom's writing has been described by Evan Parker as "wonderfully intricate and demanding and yet is exuberantly listenable". Tom released his debut album BLOOMER on Edition Records in 2017 after winning the Kenny Wheeler Prize. Tom has enjoyed touring the album throughout the UK including dates at Kings Place, Turner Sims Concert Hall and The Pizza Express Jazz Club.

Tom draws on compositional influences such as John Scofield, The Golden Age of Steam, Mark Lockheart, Brad Mehldau, Iain Ballamy and Chris Potter to create a set of music unlike anything on the London Scene today. https://tombarford.bandcamp.com/album/bloomer

AuB

AuB is the London based quartet, masterminded by two young saxophonists, Tom Barford and Alex Htichcock, musicians who are making huge waves as part of the next generation of virtuosic instrumentalists intent on doing things their way. AUB, pronounced ORB, refers to the meeting and unity of two musical minds and instrumental sounds melded into one group sound. Twin tenors tradition has had a long history but with AUB, it's the collaborative writing process and blending of sounds that drives their group sound. Together with bassist Fergus Ireland and drummer James Maddren, AUB melds contemporary Jazz sounds, an adventurous and risk-taking spirit with a degree of unpredictability, nuance and intense improvisation.

AuB released their debut album on Edition Records in May 2020.

'This is adventurous, risk-taking music. With no chordal instrument to tie them down, the twin front liners are free to roam at will, pushing hard against the shifting rhythmic and harmonic boundaries sketched out by the endlessly creative team of Fergus Ireland on bass and James Maddren on drums' – Jazzwise
