Sax Lessons

Teaching has been an integral part of my musical career for over 10 years now. I teach all kinds of genres including Jazz, Classical, Pop, music theory and Composition to a wide variety of ages and standards. I am a woodwind teacher for Enfield Grammar School and I have taught in various other schools across London for music services. Other teaching has involved regular private students ages 8-70. This included prepping a student for their Berklee audition and a child for a private secondary school (both of which got in). I have also taught masterclasses in colleges such as the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (With acclaimed Guitarist/Composer Joel Harrison). I have written and conducted commissioned big band music for youth organisations such as the Northampton County Youth Big Band and the National Youth Jazz Orchestra. In terms of qualifications I have a Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music teaching qualification. This is on top of the 1st Class Hons BMus Jazz Saxophone degree from the Royal Academy of Music. I am happy to teach remotely as well as teaching in-person. Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any further questions :)

Testimonies

"If you are looking for an exceptional saxophone tutor, look no further than Tom! He has been tutoring my 11-year-old daughter for the past three and half years and I couldn’t be more impressed with his teaching abilities.

Tom is not only a fantastic musician but he is also incredibly friendly, patient and great with children. He has a unique talent for making music fun and exciting for my daughter, which has kept her motivated and engaged in her studies. In fact, Tom’s teaching methods are so effective that even my 8-year-old son has started playing the saxophone with him!

Tom’s punctuality and reliability are also worth mentioning. He has always been on time for lessons and is very communicative if there are any changes or adjustments needed. This level of professionalism has given me peace of mind and made scheduling lessons effortless and stress-free.

But the most impressive thing about Tom is his musicianship. He plays the saxophone superbly and has helped my daughter achieve incredible results. Thanks to Tom’s guidance and expertise, my daughter has gone on to play grade 7 in both classical and jazz. This is a remarkable accomplishment that we are so proud of, and it wouldn’t have been possible without Tom’s excellent instruction.

Overall, I cannot recommend Tom enough. He is an outstanding saxophone tutor who truly cares about his students and goes above and beyond to help them achieve their musical goals. If you are looking for a tutor who is friendly, punctual, great with children and plays superbly, Tom is the perfect fit." Eva

“My lessons with Tom have been a fantastic propellant for developments in terms of my technical facility, musicianship and developing a unique voice. Having the privilege of guidance from a master musician like Tom has allowed me to develop further and accomplish more than I could've hoped. Tom listens and clearly explains every concept and exercise with clarity, he cares about getting the most out of the lesson time which means you come away with plenty of material to work on. And as an extra bonus it's always a pleasure to hear him play his saxophone.” - Marko (22 years old)

“Tom is a wonderful clarinet teacher, and instilled a love for the instrument in my 8 year old daughter. Patient and kind, we would recommend him as a tutor in a heartbeat.”- Farah

"I’ve been having Skype lessons with Tom on jazz harmony and improvisation for about 2 months – I was only planning on having a couple of lessons at first but quickly became hooked! Tom’s mastery of the saxophone, passion for teaching, and his ability to express even complex ideas in an accessible way make him a brilliant teacher. Our lessons have done wonders for not just my playing but also my confidence as Tom is always so friendly and encouraging, and he will definitely inspire you to put more time into your music!"
