Sax Lessons

Teaching has been an integral part of my musical career for over 10 years now. I teach all kinds of genres including Jazz, Classical, Pop, music theory and Composition to a wide variety of ages and standards. I am a registered Saxophone and Clarinet tutor for Enfield Music Service and have taught in schools across London since joining the EMS team 5 years ago. Other teaching has involved regular private students ages 8-65. This included prepping a student for their Berklee audition and a child for a private secondary school (both of which got in). I have also taught masterclasses in colleges such as the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (With acclaimed Guitarist/Composer Joel Harrison) and writing/conducting commissions for youth organisations such as the Northampton County Youth Big Band and the National Youth Jazz Orchestra. In terms of qualifications I completed the Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music teaching qualification. This is on top of the 1st Class BMus Jazz Saxophone degree from the Royal Academy of Music. I am happy to teach remotely as well as teaching in-person. Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any further questions :)

“Tom has been tutoring my daughter Emma (8) on saxophone for about 6 months and the progress Emma has made is unbelievable. Tom is very friendly, plays the saxophone exceptionally and his lessons are always fun. It is hard to find the right tutor, especially when it comes to music, but Tom is amazing at what he does and Emma always looks forward to her saxophone lessons. I would recommend Tom to anyone who wishes to learn to play the saxophone in a fun and engaging way.” - Eva

“My lessons with Tom have been a fantastic propellant for developments in terms of my technical facility, musicianship and developing a unique voice. Having the privilege of guidance from a master musician like Tom has allowed me to develop further and accomplish more than I could've hoped. Tom listens and clearly explains every concept and exercise with clarity, he cares about getting the most out of the lesson time which means you come away with plenty of material to work on. And as an extra bonus it's always a pleasure to hear him play his saxophone.” - Marko (22 years old)

“Tom is a wonderful clarinet teacher, and instilled a love for the instrument in my 8 year old daughter. Patient and kind, we would recommend him as a tutor in a heartbeat.”- Farah

"I’ve been having Skype lessons with Tom on jazz harmony and improvisation for about 2 months – I was only planning on having a couple of lessons at first but quickly became hooked! Tom’s mastery of the saxophone, passion for teaching, and his ability to express even complex ideas in an accessible way make him a brilliant teacher. Our lessons have done wonders for not just my playing but also my confidence as Tom is always so friendly and encouraging, and he will definitely inspire you to put more time into your music!" - Eddie (22 years old)
